This work is from the limited edition of 999, and are early representations of his concepts for his famous Guernica painting. "The sketches in the portfolio are like a seismograph of his thoughts and feelings, and so they permit us to understand what he really wanted to paint in Guernica. A study of these sketches reveals the progress of the artist at work - his hesitations, his searching, the choices he made.
