This is an extremely rare and very large example of tanzanite. Heating is a perfectly acceptable treatment for this gem type, but this tanzanite is unheated, and is the same color as the rough that was mined in Tanzania. The color palette of this gem is rich and full, with a D block indigo blue hue. It measures an impressive 12mm x 9mm x 5.7mm, and has a glistening superior luster.
