This lithograph is in excellent condition and and has only been shown in a gallery setting. Limited edition printed on Arches paper.  The photos are of one of the pieces from the edition, the piece purchased will have a unique edition number- new, not preowned.

"Concert of the Afternoon" is part of the 4-piece "Concert of the Hours of the Day" Lithograph Suite.  In this lithograph, Alvar displays three figures framed in front of Renaissance-era architecture. On the right is a figure who appears to be affected by the aroma of the fruits and flowers. Earth, trees, flowers all give off their most intense aromas at sunset which inspired the color palette of this piece. The chromatic composition of this lithograph uses colors that evoke tonalities of colors stained by the evening sun just before turning to night and, subsequently, becoming a new day.  Alvar notes that the musical inspiration for this piece was from Albinoni's "Adagio" which  is restful and meditative in sound.

In addition, this lithograph is hand-embellished with a watercolor remark over a lithograph drawing at the bottom strip. This piece was created, signed and numbered by the artist.
