This historic coin was a part of the treasury department's stockpile of silver dollars to be paid out at face value to those who requested them. Discovered in 1964 during an audit. They were auctioned off by the General Services Administration (GSA) with many being sold for around $50 a piece. They are now widely collected when kept in their original plastic holder.
