This Artifact depicts the famous image of the Reclining Buddha. Buddhists believe that the lord buddha reclined in this pose as he meditated on spiritual enlightenment. As Buddha was meditating, his body grew to be many times his normal size to scare off Mara (devil/ evil forces).  The statue was obtained from an  ancient collapsed stupa in northern Thailand.  A stupa is a large dome-shaped monument built  near a Buddhist temple. A stupa is used to store antique Buddhist Relics of the time circa 19TH century Origin: Thailand, Material: bronze alloy with a dark green patina, museum mounted on new teak wood. Measurements approx. 2.75 x 1.5 x .6 inches. Weight: approx. 6 ounces,
