Handsome 1890 Hampden RRG GF Pocket Watch

Times were humbler in 1890 when the train still reigned supreme. The heart of this c. 1890 timepiece is grade Railway, model 1 by the Hampden Watch Company, serial number 619261. Despite its long history, it remains in very good condition. The 14k heavy-gold-filled case has the modest wear shown, and there is a small dent near the stem (photo). The rear depicts an idealized rural motif, and the front remains free of monogram on its cartouche. The railroad grade, full plate, lever-set movement is size 18s, rides on 15 jewels, and is adjusted for position. The crystal and dial are pristine, and the hands are contrasting blued steel. This watch is in good running condition and weighs 131.9 grams.
