Great rare collectible fine art. This original winter landscape oil painting by Gulbrand Sether Norwegian-American (1869-1941) is an incredible art work signed by the artist, with it's masterpiece magical illumination.
BIOGRAPHY: Gulbrand Sether was born in Saerskovbygda, Elverum, Norway, in 1869. He worked on Norwegian ships which traveled as far north as the Arctic Circle. After studying art in Norway with the Norwegian city and landscape painter, Fritz Thaulow, he emigrated to the US in 1893. About 1900 he settled in Chicago's Humboldt Park, an area heavily populated by Norwegian-Americans. He had his own studio and devoted himself to artistic pursuits. He was the author of the book S?nnen paa Hofstad: Norsk-Amerikansk Fortaelling af Gulbrand Sether (Chicago, IL: John Anderson Publishing Co., 1917). Sether died in 1941.
Oil painting is on stretched canvas in original condition with original antique vintage condition wood frame. Frame size: 44 x 26 x 2 inches , image size: 34 x 20 inches. (NOTE: There is an one inch tear on the top toward left side of the painting, SOLD AS-IS).
