40 Unsearched Silver War Nickels. Stock Photo. This one with at least 7 uncs scanned. Some with near full steps . Some nice colors There was a severe copper shortage during the war so they substituted silver for copper. Must have been hard to strike as they resumed with copper nickel after the war ended. Copper was almost twice as expensive as silver at the time due to demand
