The statue is an expression of a bird that stands with wings open. the feathers ruffled by the gales that come barreling from the seashores. Its eyes are shut as it seems to inhale its surroundings. The bronze plinth that its talons dig into, seem not to be hard material but a liquid molten movement that twirls and turns creating an interesting composition. Amongst the base, a bear lurks staring up with its mouth agape. These bronze sculptures were cast using the age-old method of lost wax casting and finished with a brown patina stain for preservation and mounted upon a marble base.
