Centaurs, half-horse, and half-man inhabited the forests of Thessaly in Greek mythology. They have been described as savage and rude creatures. Here this significantly strong beast is carrying off a woman. The nude woman has been kidnapped screaming unsuccessfully attempting to break free from the centaurs grasp. This mythical sculpture is made of bronze and set atop a marble base. The lost wax method was used to craft this piece. Bronze Dimensions with Marble Base: Height 17 X Width 15 inches. Weight: 27 LBS.
