A floor-standing telescope with an 18-inch brass optical tube mounted on a wooden tripod. It has an overall height of approximately 43 inches and a base diameter around 22 inches. The telescope offers about 15x magnification. Similar brass spyglasses were widely used from the 17th to 19th centuries by sailors and harbor masters for viewing distant objects at sea.
