Imperial Mosaic Gold Plated Fabergé-Style with Portrait Frame

Inspired by the 1914 Mosaic Egg, this Imperial Fabergé-style trinket stands 3.8 inches tall on its base with a diameter of 2.1 inches and is crafted from gold plated pewter with enamel and Austrian crystal accents. The hinged egg opens to reveal a small portrait frame measuring about 2.6 by 1.5 inches and is finished with raised gold tone detailing and hand painted surfaces. The design draws inspiration from the 1914 Imperial Mosaic Egg created by Peter Carl Fabergé for Tsar Nicholas II as an Easter gift to Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. That original imperial piece, designed by Alma Theresia Pihl, featured an intricate mosaic pattern set with gemstones and included a miniature portrait surprise inside.
