This album was published to mark the opening of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona in May 1963, following the donation of Sabartés' collection of works by Picasso. In the preface, titled "De la Llotja au Museu Picasso," Sabartés reflects on the days when Pablo Ruiz studied at the "Llotja," the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, located not far from the museum.
