Reverse: Displays a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast, holding arrows and an olive branch, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST above, denomination FIVE DOLLARS below, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA encircling. The mintmark S (San Francisco) appears below the eagle.
Historical Significance: Part of the long-running Liberty Head Half Eagle series (1839–1908). The 1906-S is among the later issues struck before being replaced by the Indian Head design in 1908.
