Chant Funèbre pour Ignacio Sánchez Mejías (translated as Funeral Song for Ignacio Sánchez Mejías) is a powerful artistic and literary portfolio in tribute to Ignacio Sánchez Mejías, a Spanish bullfighter who tragically died after being gored during a bullfight in 1934. His death deeply impacted both the public and the intellectual community, including Pablo Picasso and the poet Federico García Lorca – who collaborated to create the work Chant Funèbre, which was published by Pierre de Tartas in 1976.
This work by Picasso is a woodcut in black on Japon Imperial paper from the Moulin Richard de Bas edition limited to only 30 in the edition. It measures at 14 ½ x 11 inches and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
