Biography: Pop Artist Romero Britto was born in Brazil, but came as a young adult to make his home in Miami Florida. Growing up impoverished in Recite, Britto often painted on scraps of cardboard and newspaper. Determined to succeed in his art, Britto left his native Brazil for Europe and then went on to America, exhibiting and selling his profile ad campaign. Thus catapulted into the limelight, Britto went on to be commissioned by Pepsi Cola, Grand Marnier, Disney, IBM, Apple Computers, and a United Nations postage stamp series, and became the official artist for the Latin Grammy Awards.<br>He donates much of his time and work to charitable causes, such as Amnesty International, the Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, Aids Research, and the maintenance of the Brazilian Rainforest. He designed the cover for Michael Jackson's CD benefiting the victims of the World Trade Center."What More Can I Give," and his image "The Gift of Life", promoting the importance of organ donation, appeared on 4000 buses around the world.
