Egyptian Cat Bronze Sculpture

This is an elegant sculpture of an Egyptian pharaoh cat. It is believed that the house cat was first domesticated over 5,000 years ago in the valley of the Nile. When the people of Egypt chose to settle, they grew crops, which were often fed on by vermin. The people really grew to love the cats, and eventually, cats became the property of the divine Pharaoh. They were worshiped and even buried alongside their masters. Since then cats have become domesticated all over the world, tied back to the roots of the African Wildcat. This cat wears a collar of ancient hieroglyphic letters to help protect it from evil and has its head slightly tilted to the left and looking downward, its long tail wrapping around it. The symmetry lines and details on this piece are beautiful and also delivers a calming effect on a bystander as most cats do.
